BONFIRE & 3RD GRADE OPEN HOUSE NEXT FRIDAY!!!

The field program will start next week with a 3rd grade open house and bonfire NEXT Friday, 6/26! The full field program will start the following Monday, 6/29.

On next Friday, we will have a 3rd grade open house from 5:00-7:00 p.m. This is a time for incoming 3rd graders for the 2026-2027 school year to come to the fieldhouse with their parents and see what we have available to them and ask questions about the program. 3rd graders are old enough to come to the program for the first time, so we recommend for them and their parents to come visit us at the open house.

Then, from 7:00-10:00 p.m., we will have our annual summer kickoff bonfire! We will have music, games, smores and of course the bonfire. Parents and family members are welcome to attend as we kick off the summer in style!

*Please note that this event is for participants of the field program and their families and families that are interested in signing their children up. It is NOT open to the general public.

Please call/text Andrew at 716-753-6842 with any questions.

THANK YOU YWCA GLI PROGRAM & NCCF

We would like to give a heartfelt thank you to the YWCA of Westfield and specifically their Girls Leadership Initiative program, as well as the Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation program for donating $500 to the Westfield Rec Dept’s Welch Field summer program!

A special thank you to Westfield’s own Isabella Kurtz (pictured) and Nora Robinson for recommending the Rec Dept to be the recipient of this mini-grant award as part of their entrepreneurship project!!

We would also like to thank YWCA Board President Kathryn Bronstein, YWCA Board Vice President Beth Patri, YWCA Executive Director Stephanie Stevens, YWCA GLI Program Director Bonnie Hartley, NCCF Ralph C. Wilson Jr Rural Philanthropy Fellow Jeannie Gallaway, and NCCF Community Engagement Coordinator Leslie Wille!

It was such a blessing to not only receive this mini-grant award, but to attend a meeting of the GLI to hear about the impact the community of Westfield and the Rec Dept has had on their lives. We really appreciate the Girls Leadership Initiative as well as the collaboration between our three organizations.

This donation will greatly benefit our ability to provide a high quality summer program for our local youths!

JOB SERVICE

Westfield residents needing help with cleanup of their yards and other odd jobs are asked to call the Westfield Recreation Department at 716-753-6842 (Andrew) and we will assist in arranging a local teen to help. We cannot guarantee that we will be able to find a worker, but we will do our best! We serve as a third party to set up the person who needs the work done with someone who can do it. We do not have any input on the payment process.

We are still in need of new teens for the job service. Most jobs are typically raking leaves, mowing grass, other yardwork, snow shoveling, etc. If interested, please call the Westfield Recreation Department at 716-753-6842 (Andrew).
