WELCH FIELD POOL CLOSED FOR THE SUMMER

Unfortunately, due to a declining pump motor, Welch Field pool will be closed for the summer effective immediately. We have been operating with older equipment and have been doing our best to get through the summer. Unfortunately, our pump motor has declined rapidly in the last week, that we now feel it is unsafe to continue to allow swimming this summer.

We would have liked to have gotten it serviced, but we only have two weeks left of our swim season. By the time we would be able to get the pump motor out, serviced, and back in, the summer would already be done. The good news is, that we do have all new equipment that will be getting installed this fall for next summer.

We're VERY SORRY that we have to make this decision to end our summer swim season prematurely. It is certainly a decision that we do not make lightly. However, we feel that in the interest of safety, it is the only decision that we can make right now. We thank you all for an outstanding nine weeks of swimming and we cannot wait until next summer!!

JOB SERVICE

Westfield residents needing help with cleanup of their yards and other odd jobs are asked to call the Westfield Recreation Department at 716-753-6842 (Andrew) and we will assist in arranging a local teen to help. We cannot guarantee that we will be able to find a worker, but we will do our best! We serve as a third party to set up the person who needs the work done with someone who can do it. We do not have any input on the payment process.

We are still in need of new teens for the job service. Most jobs are typically raking leaves, mowing grass, other yardwork, snow shoveling, etc. If interested, please call the Westfield Recreation Department at 716-753-6842 (Andrew).
